PAI has developed a kinematics gauge that may be slid along the bore of a gun (or along any nearly straight tube) to precisely measure bore straightness, diameter, and circularity.

Electrical gauge outputs determine:

• bore straightness to within 0.0008" (20 mm) per ft. along the tube T.I.R.;
• bore circularity within 0.0004" (10 mm)
• consistency of bore diameter to within 0.0004" (10 mm)

In addition, the gauge can be used to investigate joints between tube sections fastened together. It detects positive or negative steps in the bore wall with amplitudes down to 0.0004" (10 mm).  Using the gauge to map orthogonal misalignments allows joint quality tube to be assessed precisely.
